# File requirements

> Supported upload formats, size limits, scan behavior, and document quality guidance.

## Limits

The maximum upload size is **25 MB per file**.

## Supported types

* PDF
* PNG
* JPEG
* WebP
* Microsoft Word `.docx`
* Microsoft Excel `.xlsx`
* ZIP
* CSV
* Plain text

NeuDocs validates the declared content type on the server. A browser's file picker filter is only a convenience and does not replace server validation.

## Prepare a good document

* Include every required page.
* Use a straight, well-lit image without glare.
* Keep text large enough to read at normal zoom.
* Do not password-protect or encrypt the file unless the request explicitly supports it.
* Use the correct period, person/entity, and final signed version.
* Prefer the original PDF over screenshots when available.

## Scanning and review

A successful upload does not mean the document is approved. The file must clear scanning and then satisfy the request's correctness and staff-review rules.

## ZIP files

A ZIP can carry multiple related files, but it is harder to preview and verify. Use separate checklist items when each document needs its own status, correctness expectation, or review decision.
